Dr. Andrew Shaun Dent was employed by ATKINS in June 2007 as the Senior Project Health and Safety Manager for the Central Market Project in Abu Dhabi until leaving in November 2010 to join Larsen & Toubro as the Cluster Head of EHS for all the High Rise Buildings. Dr Andrew Shaun Dent was born in Kingston upon Hull in the United Kingdom.

He started his long journey in Health and Safety whilst working for a local house building company in 1976. Dr. Andrew Shaun Dent then moved away from Hull to work for British Steel Corporation in Scunthorpe one of the largest producers in the world. Working from the shop floor level he became an active member of the emergency services which involved First Aid, Fire, rescue and Safety and was an active member for some 13 years.

Dr. Andrew Shaun Dent started out by taking redundancy from the steelworks and took his NEBOSH Certificate and then the NEBOSH Diploma, in the meantime he started his own Health, Safety, and Training Consultancy from his house in Scunthorpe with just him and a secretary and just 5 companies on his books. After one year Dr. Andrew Shaun Dent had reached 90 Companies on his books in Scunthorpe and employing 6 full time Consultants and 4 Office staff.

Dr Andrew Shaun Dent carried on working on his studies in Health and Safety and achieved a Bachelor of Science, then the Master of Science, then 2 PhD’s from a pilot scheme run by a London University one in Occupational Health and Safety Management and one in Environmental Health and Safety after becoming a Professor for the University he carried on his education as well as working long hours in his business and being asked by the BBC if he would take part in a documentary with his wife and family called having it all series due to the Dr never being able to spend time with his family due to the working commitments of him and his wife Marie who worked 10-6 Shift Work at Golden Wonder. The Dr agreed and a documentary was made. The Dr Still continued to study doing NVQ’s 4/5 and TESOL with London Teacher Training College so it would help him when he did lectures or carried out training for companies as he did so very frequently.

In 1997 the professor was approached by NVQ UK and asked if he would be an assessor for an OCR Pilot scheme being run for level 6/7 in Occupational Health and Safety. The professor continues to work and study just completed English Law Diploma at London Graduate College and is presently doing Business law to assist him in giving his position as Senior Project Health and Safety Manager of the Central Market extensive knowledge of Contract Law. Working on the Central Market Project has really given me the opportunity to implement my existing skills and knowledge in helping Abu Dhabi’ MOL & ADM become the best when it comes down to saving people’s lives and making Abu Dhabi Construction Industry be the safest in the UAE.
